13 Movies of the 80’s I Love
I grew up in the 90’s, not the 80’s, but I have always loved everything 80’s. I think I was born in the wrong decade.
1. The Never Ending Story (1984) - I have always wanted to be able to jump into a book.
2. Mystic Pizza (1988) - My mom introduced me to this movie. I believe this was Julia Roberts’ first movie.
3. Loverboy (1989) - Patrick Dempsey as a pizza delivery boy turned gigolo.
4. The Last Starfighter (1984) - My dad and I used to watch this one together. I can’t want to show it to my son one day.
5. Labyrinth (1986) - Just a fun movie - “mixes Alice in Wonderland with Wizard of OZ”
6. Bettlejuice (1988) - I don’t know what it is, but there is just something about this movie that my husband and I love. We are constantly rewatching it on DVD. One of my favorite quotes is from Lydia, “Live people ignore the strange and unusual. I myself am strange and unusual.”
7. Big Business (1988) - Hilarious movie with Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin about twins who get switched at birth. This movie just had me laughing so hard, I almost peed my pants the first time I saw it.
8. Iron Eagle (1986) - The geek in me loves this movie. Didn’t care for any of the sequels though.
9. Can’t Buy Me Love (1987) - As a teenager this was my favorite movie. This movie is why I fell in love with Patrick Dempsey.
10. Coming To America (1988) - Another of my husband’s favorite as well. I laugh every time I watch this movie. It just doesn’t get old. One of Eddie Murphy’s best movies.
11. Footloose (1984) - Even my 19 month old daughter loves this movie. I think it’s the music. An awesome soundtrack. She loves dancing to it.
12. Girls Just Want To Have Fun (1985) - This movie made me want to be a professional dancer, for the time it took me to watch the movie. As a preteen teen, this movie was one I was always watching over and over again. I still enjoy even now from time to time.
13. Hairspray (1988) - I don’t know why I enjoy this movie, but I do.
