Things You Find While Doing Laundry

Posted by Courtney under family

LaundryPrincess woke me up at 6:00am this morning like normal and I decided I would start laundry. I know, that is too early to do laundry, but I have a reason. I live in an apartment building and the building shares 2 washers and 2 dryers. The only time they are not in use is in the early morning hours.

So I am half asleep and pulling clothes out of the hamper and putting them in the washer and what do I find about half way through:

a shoe (I had been looking for that shoe all week!),

a toy car (no biggie),

and a fork. Yes an eatting utilinsel. I have no idea how a fork got from the kitchen to the back bedroom and in to the closet and put in the dirty clothes hamper. I think the Spirits came (because according to Superboy only Johnny and him can see the Spirits) and decided to play the “Let’s Make Mom Think She Is Going Insane” game.

What out of place things have you found in the hamper?

LOL - I think that game is world wide, I swear my kids conspire to give me that “WHAAAA?!” moment at least twice a day. What I find most in the hamper{s} are polly pocket clothes … and shoes … and wee purses. In fact sometimes I find more of Polly’s clothes then I do my daughters ;-)

That is hilarious! I don’t have any children so I have yet to find interesting things in my laundry- usually it’s loose change and what-not. :)

Oh that’s too funny! I have one laundry basket in the laundry room where I put the dirty clothes so I haven’t had any interesting finds but as my kids get older I’m sure I will.

LOL! I find the occasional rock or spare change, but nothing this interesting. Mostly I have problems with things (socks) disappearing.

My husband has a tendency of leaving his chapstick in his pockets. My pockets are always full of stuff I’ve taken away from the girls during the day like crayons and bits of paper. And there’s no telling what I’ll find in the girls’ pockets. Anything from crayons to little toys to food. We’ve made a habit of thoroughly checking all pockets for items before putting them into the wash.

Most recently her iPod. And her house keys (after I’d already had the new set made, of course). No utensils, yet.

And at least there are no WORMS anymore, now that she’s grown up into such a girle-girl.

A fork?? That beats anything I have found in the laundry. Mostly it is just tissues, money and chapstick. The chapstick, however, was in a pair of white capri pants and so it ruined the entire load of whites. Yes, it was my chapstick, so I had no one to blame. Sigh…

How funny! The most curious things I find in our dirty laundry are CLEAN CLOTHES! As soon as my kids started helping with the laundry they stopped that bad habit.

I’ve seen utensils in the kids rooms, but yet to find any in their laundry! That is funny! I’ve found my car keys and cell phone. Thank goodness the baby put it in the laundry. i don’t want to even think what would have happened if she put it in the trash! ACK!
