An award and things about me
Project Mommy has awarded me the Excellent Blog Award. It’s my first award and I’m thrilled! From Project Mommy’s blog about the award:
I have greatly enjoyed blogging these last few months. I have received many heartwarming comments, I’ve read touching stories, and I’ve laughed at jokes you’ve written. I love being a part of the blogging community and part of all the friendships that I’ve formed so I wanted to give a blog award for all of you out there that have Excellent Blogs.

I feel the same way. The blogging community is something special. It has something nothing else does - everything goes. It doesn’t matter what your background is, what race you are, what religious preference you have, everyone in the blogging world has a voice that can be heard without fear.
I am suppose to share the award with others so here are some (not all) of the blogs I think are excellent:
In other blogging news - I realized I hit over my 100th post. This is actually my 104th post. So in keeping with tradition here is 100 things about me:
- My name is Courtney
- my middle name is Dawn
- I was born and raised in Texas
- I have 1 brother who is younger than me
- I am married to a medical student
- We have been married for 5 years
- My husband is 2 years older than me
- I have 2 kids
- A boy who is 3
- and a girl who is 1
- I have a dog named Skittles
- She is a basset hound
- I got her from an Amish farm in Pennsylvania
- She lets my kids climb all over her without batting an eye
- If Skittles would have been male instead, I would have used the name Snickers
- I currently live in Maryland
- but will be moving at the end of April
- and have no idea where we will be moving to
- I love reading
- my favorite book is The Time Traveler’s Wife
- I am currently reading a book called Act of God, which I am not enjoying but refuse not to finish it
- I got a bread machine this weekend and made my first of loaf of bread yesterday
- I love high school football
- My high school mascot was a farmer named Big John
- and my high school won the football State Championship when I was a junior
- I was in the marching band in high school
- I played the trombone
- I was horrible at it
- I met my husband while attending college working at a hotel
- Out first date was putt-putt golf and dinner at Chili’s
- We got married on my grandmother’s birthday
- and moved to Maryland 3 months later
- My son, Superboy, was born 8 weeks early
- I had to have an emergency c-section
- My daughter has born full term
- but I still had a c-section to fix problem from the first c-section
- So even though I have had two 2 children, I have never been in labor
- I just recently had my gallbladder removed
- and anesthesia makes me really really sick
- I love all kinds of movies
- even horror
- some of my favorite moves include The 5th Element,
- The Notebook,
- The Lord of The Rings series,
- Grease,
- and The Shawshank Redemption
- My biggest pet peeves are leaving the kitchen cabinet doors open
- and not picking up after yourself
- My first job was working at a pizza place that my best friend’s mom owned
- My second job was at Lil’ Things, a baby store that has since closed
- Then I worked at Office Depot until I went to college
- After college I worked at a elementary school in Plano, TX as the technology person
- then I went to work at ControlDOCs in the IT department while I attend Arlington Baptist College
- I worked at ControlDOCS until I moved to Maryland
- In Maryland in I have only had 1 job
- that was as a legal assistant to a blind lawyer
- that job required a lot of patience
- now I am a stay at home mom
- it has been the most challenging and most rewarding job I have ever had
- I was so excited when in my second pregnancy I found I was having a girl
- because it meant I would be able to watch Care Bears
- and Rainbow Bright
- and Strawberry Shortcake without being teased about it
- I think the Teletubbies is the most annoying kids show ever
- and The Wiggles is a close second
- so of course, Superboy, loves both
- My favorite color is blue
- my favorite song is Master I See by The Kingsmen Quartet
- I am a born again Christian
- I got saved when I was 15
- at youth camp in Texas, I always loved going to youth camp
- I attend Arlington Baptist College in Arlington, TX for awhile before moving to Maryland
- but never got my degree
- I love teaching Sunday school
- at one point I created the weekly church bulletin
- and the church website
- I keep a prayer journal
- my grandmother is my prayer partner
- I loved the book Power of a Praying Parent
- and highly recommend it
- I don’t smoke
- I don’t drink
- I love anything to do with technology
- I think golf is very boring
- I want to visit Australia
- and Europe
- and Africa
- I want to take my kids to Disneyland
- I have been on 2 missions trips to Mexico
- both were incredible and eye opening
- I love Taco Bell
- and hate McDonalds
- I can never get enough Mexican food
- I want at least 1 more child, maybe 2
- I loved peanut butter
- and chocolate
- my favorite cookie is a peanut butter, chocolate, oatmeal cookies my grandmother makes
- my favorite dessert is cheesecake
- but my husband hates it
- I thank God daily for everything
Whew! That is hard to do! Now I’m pooped!

What a great list! I recently did my 100th post as well. It wears a gal out! I love The Fifth Element and Shawshank Redemption too! And congrats on your bloggy award!

I just found your blog and now I feel like I know you! HA! We live in Arlington and I just posted about the Country Kitchen closing. Did you ever eat there?
