I got this recipe from my mother-in-law and the kids love it. It also lasts longer than the store bought play dough.
Ingredients:

1 cup floor
1/2 cup salt
1 tablespoon oil
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 cup of water
food coloring of choice

Directions:

Mix all the above ingredients in saucepan and cook over heat until done
Knead mixture until smooth
